Women's Voluntary Action academic collaboration with Dr Siobhan Daly 2018
This page features a selection of photographs from a short academic research project conducted in collaboration with social scientist Dr Siobhan Daly exploring women experiences of volunteering. We conducted a series of walking interviews and discussions in places significant to a group of women who are active in a range of volunteer organisations across the region in order to capture their experiences of volunteering. We brought the group together to share their experiences of volunteering sharing photographs of significant objects and quotes from the interviews, pictured here. This work is currently being written up into two separate academic papers. The project developed out of our collaboration on a Leverhulme trust residency exploring philanthropy in the North East and acted as an initial exploration of a complex subject, and also an experiment in developing interdisciplany research across art and social science.
