Michele Allen is an artist working with photography, sound and video, with an interest in documentary and sense of place. Her work is made through a combination of personal observation, interaction with others, oral history and academic and historical research.

As part of the group Radix North East, she has worked on a number of projects in Peterlee over the last four years, revisiting an artists placement project initiated by Stuart Brisley in 1978. She is currently studying for a practice based PhD at the University of Sunderland in association with Locus+, looking at the connections between contemporary documentary practice and non- gallery based art.
